Opening Ceremony of Cross-Border Trade Mentor Special Training

    -       To support small exporters and founders-to-be for e-commerce exports for 6 months -

The Korea International Trade Association (Chairman, Kim In-ho) and the Industrial Bank of Korea (IBK, Chairman & CEO, Kim Do-jin) held an opening ceremony for Cross-Border Trade (CBT) Mentor Special Training program for small and medium-sized export enterprises at Trade Tower in Samseong-dong, Seoul on May 11, Thursday.

The Korea International Trade Association and IBK selected 60 novice small exporters and start-up founders-to-be to support their e-commerce exports. The organizations will support them for six months by providing the e-commerce specialist training, consultation service by visiting the companies, special lectures and mentoring for each group. The lecturers and mentors who participate in the training consist of the foreign direct sales power sellers of CBT Leaders Club (established in March 16) of the Korea International Trade Association. They will share their expertise and know-how aiming at achieving the year-end sales goals, which is the peak season for overseas direct sales.

As Korea's e-commerce exports have surged recently, e-commerce exports exceeded the imports for the first time last year, and the global e-commerce market is also exponentially growing. Moreover, since e-commerce requires a low initial cost, it is advantageous for small businesses and founders to start relatively easily without much burden. The companies who have traded traditional exports and carried out business to business transactions only have also jumped into overseas direct sales. However, many of them are experiencing trials and errors due to lack of information and know-how.

Lee Jae-chool, Executive Managing Director of the Korea International Trade Association stated Recently, there has been a growing demand for differentiated services and in-depth education along with the trading industry’s interest in trading through B2C. He added It is expected that the power-sellers’ education and professional mentoring will create new success stories for each company.
