held Luncheon with Trade Industry Inviting U.S. Ambassador Harris
- Reaffirmed stronger economic
alliance between the two countries with the concluded Korea-US FTA revision -
The Korea International Trade Association
(chairman, Kim Young-ju) held a luncheon meeting with the trade industry by
inviting U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Korea Harry Harris at the Trade
Tower in Samseong-dong on November 19th.
The event
was attended by the Chairman Kim Young-joo of the Korea International Trade
Association and CEOs and high ranking executive members of the key export and
investment companies, including Samsung Electronics, Hyundai Motor, LG
Electronics, POSCO Daewoo, SK E&S, Hyosung, Dongwon F&B, Meta Biomed,
TCC Dongyang and Shindong Enercom. From U.S. Embassy, the Ambassador Harry
Harris, Deputy Chief of Mission Rob Rapson, Senior Commercial Officer Greg
Briscoe, and Minister Counselor for Economic Affairs Pushpinder Dhillon participated
in the event and attentively listened to the difficulties that Korean trade
companies are experiencing.
Kim
Young-joo, chairman of the Korea International Trade Association, said in his
speech, "Last September, the Korea-US free trade agreement (FTA)
negotiations were finalized and the two countries established a momentum for
economic cooperation." He added, “I expect that the two governments and
businessmen will be able to communicate about economic and trade issues through
various channels.”
This meeting
was held to strengthen the networking to discuss mutual interests between the
investment companies who invest in the United States and U.S Embassy. Korean
companies informed the difficulties when conducting businesses with the United
States to Ambassador Harris and reaffirmed the importance of future-oriented
economic cooperation between the two countries.
