    KITA and MOFAT Held ‘Heads of overseas Korean Missions - Businessmen Consultation Meeting’ 

     

     - 49 large companies, including Hyundai Motor Group and GS E & C, and 29 medium-sized companies participated in the event discussed winning overseas project orders -

     

    The Korea International Trade Association (Chairman, Kim Young-joo) held a 2018 One on One Meeting Between Heads of overseas Korean Missions and Businessmen' at the Lotte Hotel in Sogong-dong on December 13th in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

      

    The meeting was set up to help Korean companies build export strategies for next year by utilizing local information and overseas networks possessed by overseas diplomatic missions. 287 companies, 600 businessmen and 138 heads of overseas diplomatic missions took part in the event and carried out over 550 meetings.

      

      

    From the government, Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-hwa, Korean Ambassador to Russia Woo Yoon-keun, Korean Ambassador to China Noh Young-min, Korean Ambassador to Germany Jong Bum-goo, ROK Ambassador to the United Nation Cho Tae-yul, Korean Ambassador to Philippines, Han Dong-man, etc. participated in the event. From the economic community, Chairman Kim Young ?joo of the Korea International Trade Association, Vice Chairman Kwon Tae-shin of the Federation of Korean Industries, Executive Vice Chairman Kim Jun-dong of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Vice Chairman Lee Dong-Jae of the Korea Federation of SMEs, Vice Chairman Ban Won-ik of the Association of High Potential Enterprises of Korea and others participated in the meetings.

     

    Chairman Kim Young-joo of the Korea International Trade Association said in the breakfast meeting, "The information and network of the overseas diplomatic missions will play an important role in the advancement of Korean companies into overseas." He also stressed, "The Korean heads of overseas diplomat missions and businessmen are partners in a three-legged race."

      

      

    There were 49 large companies such as Samsung Engineering, Hyundai Motor, GS E & C, POSCO Daewoo, etc. and 217 small and medium-sized companies, including Jusung Engineering, Dohwa Engineering, Dong-il Textile, etc. participated in the event and discussed winning local project orders with the heads of overseas diplomat missions. By industry, the largest number took part in the event from trade industry (20.3%), followed by construction (9.3%), IT, telecommunication, electronics (8.1%), food and beverages (7.3%), steel and metal (6.9%) and car components (6.4%).

     

    Supports for trade matching and winning projects (36.2%), were the most consulted issues, followed by 'Requests for information (31.0%), 'Introducing and promoting business (15.0%) and 'Resolving business difficulties (12.0%).

      

     

    Cho, Hak-hee, the head of International Affairs Group at the Korea International Trade Association, said, This is the tenth annual one on one meeting between Heads of overseas Korean Missions and business people. It has been a strong foundation for Korean companies to establish strategies to expand their businesses into overseas. The Korea International Trade Association will also exert its efforts to diversify Korean companies' exports."
