KITA (Chairman: Jin-Sik Yoon) hosted KITA Global E-commerce Conference 2025 on Tuesday, 27 May at COEX in Seoul.
Today's event was divided into two parts: Global E-commerce Conference 2025 and tradeKorea Matching Day event. "Global E-commerce Conference 2025" mainly focused on strategies on how to utilise global e-commerce platforms and "tradeKorea Matching Day" event focused on individual business meetings with high-rated buyers at tradeKorea - a website operated by KITA dedicated to brokering transactions, which is the largest of its kind in terms of monthly visitors. This made Global E-commerce Conference 2025 a comprehensive event aimed at supporting exports, which was attended by representatives from approximately 500 companies.
KITA Global E-commerce Conference 2025 kicked off with a keynote speech by Sang-hun Lee, the CEO of Plateer - a company specialising in AI and DX solutions, which was followed by presentations on "New business trends spearheaded by AI-based e-commerce" by experts from key e-commerce platform companies, including Amazon, Alibaba, Global Sources, Shopee and Compass. These companies shared information on the extent of adopting AI on their platform for the next generation e-commerce market and introduced AI-based services of their platform and how these services can be used. After these presentations, these companies engaged in individual consultations with representatives from guest companies that attended the Conference.
The tradeKorea Matching Day event was attended by 47 high-ranking buyer companies from 27 countries that are registered in tradeKorea. These companies engaged in a total of 264 individual online and in-person consultations with business representatives from 224 companies. Additionally, success matching stories of 3 buyers that were designated as "Best Buyers of the Year" were also shared.
Inho Lee, the Executive Vice President of KITA, mentioned, "Adopting AI is no longer an option and this will determine whether an e-commerce company will thrive or fail depending on the speed and the level of efficiency of adopting AI". He added, "I expect Korean companies can boost their export competitiveness and have easier access to the overseas market once they are able to harness the benefit of AI".
